The Facts About Managed Internet Marketing With Social Media

July 29th, 2010

Whether your business is booming, gradually slowing or has come to a screeching halt, if you have yet to develop and fully engage in a managed internet marketing with social media program, you’re probably missing the opportunity of a lifetime. No, that’s not a sales pitch. It’s just the facts.

Ten or twenty years ago things were different. Whenever you needed a boost to your bottom line you probably ran an ad in your local newspaper and accompanied it with a direct mail campaign. It was pretty easy to do. You’d simply run a ‘Special’ or provide prospects with a coupon-incentive to come in and do business with you. It usually worked pretty well and you always knew what to do whenever you hit a dry spell.

Aside from the fact that today’s consumer isn’t tuned into print media the way people were in the past, your next new customer is probably just as concerned with quality as they are with price. Simply running an ad that provides a deep discount isn’t going to necessarily move them to visit your place of business. They want referrals. They want to hear from other people who have done business with you.

If you own a small business that relies on getting the attention of a local or regional customer base, you’re probably thinking that spending money online doesn’t make sense. Why would you need to engage local people online when you could certainly reach them through other means? For starters, your customers and prospects aren’t reading the newspaper you used to advertise in and they’re recycling coupon books and anything that looks like junk mail faster than the mailman can deliver it.

Sometimes direct mail shopper campaigns worked for you and sometimes they didn’t. Today’s consumer not only spends more time online, they spend more time engaging in various forms of social media for professional and recreational purposes. Even though the internet is vast and seemingly endless, internet marketing professionals know how to key in on the targets that would best suit your business’ niche. In fact, by zeroing in on your potential customer, instead of merely dumping mail on an entire zip code, you’ll actually end up with a much better ROI for your advertising dollar.

In some cases, the return can be exponentially larger than what you may have experiencing in the past with print and direct mail advertising. Why? Because once your online campaign reaches out to your core customer base, if you have something valuable to offer, your customers themselves will create ‘buzz’ for your business. That means they’ll be talking about you, willingly writing online reviews for you and drumming up business at no additional cost to your advertising expenses.

Sound too good to be true? It happens everyday! But it’s not enough to simply sit down at your computer and attempt to create your own campaign. It might be tempting, but you can actually do more damage than you think. An ongoing social media campaign is simply one component of a managed internet marketing program. Only an experienced professional marketing team can help you develop the right program and manage the appropriate levels of engagement at a level that is specifically targeted for your business, your niche and your customer.

Advertising doesn’t work the way it used to work. The rules have changed and they have changed forever. Today, the best bang for your advertising investment is to engage a team of professionals to develop a strategic and tactical plan of action. Now and in the future, a successful ad-campaign includes managed internet marketing with social media touchstones that reach out to your prospects where they meet and interact.

Find those Marketing with Social Media methods by looking online. There you will find several choices for Managed Internet marketing that you may use. Head online now and learn more.
